Introduction
The Dengbêj are traditional Kurdish storytellers and singers.
In the Kurdish language, deng means "voice" and bêj means "to tell."
For many years in Turkey, Kurdish—the mother tongue of the Kurdish people—was strictly forbidden.
Despite this, the Dengbêj have continued to sing in the ancient words of Kurdish, giving voice to the memories and heartfelt cries of the people, and passing them down through generations as stories.
A Dengbêj who has spent 40 years searching for a secret cassette tape buried in the earth.
The last Dengbêj in a village, who tried to protect his children by raising them as Turks.
Carried upon the "stories" of these storytellers, their voices have finally been unleashed in Japan—a land where a new "story" of the Kurdish people is now being woven.
イントロダクション
デングベジュは、伝統的なクルドの語り部であり、歌い手である。
クルド語でデングは「声」、ベジュは「伝える」という意味を持つ。
クルド人の母語であるクルド語は、トルコにおいて長い間、厳しく禁じられてきた。
それでも、デングベジュたちはいにしえの言葉、クルド語で歌い続け、人びとの記憶と心の叫びを声にのせ、
物語として語り継いできた。
土に埋められた秘密のカセットセープを、40年探し続けるひとりのデングベジュ。
子どもたちをトルコ人と同じように育てることで彼らを守ろうとした、村で最後のデングベジュ。
語り部たちをめぐる「物語」に乗せて届けられた彼らの声は、クルド人の新たな「物語」が紡がれている日本で解き放たれた。
